The greatest need we have at present is for storage. We believe God has promised us an industrial unit, but at present we can't see where it is coming from. We can only trust in Him to provide it. We have a small unit rented from Stockton Borough Council but the rent is quite high. We do have some supporters who give us £10 per month to help us with this need but we don't have enough to cover the full rent. If you can help in this way please get in touch.
We need cash for the general running of the office and van etc. Also for the diesel to get the aid to romania. The van insurance is one of our largest outlays after the trips themselves. This costs us around £1,200 a year so if you can help, please do. If you know of someone who may be able to provide insurance at a cheaper rate then please get in touch.
We have been asked for copies of Windows 98 licences. Misu is setting up a computer network which will also run as an internet cafe for children in Radauti. He has at least one copy so has a disc but to keep legal must have a licence for each computer. We have recently supplied some computers for the network but need the software to get him going. If you can help, please get in touch or send them to our P.O. box number as on our home Page.
The clinic is situated in a small village and so does not get any aid except what we provide. The doctors have fought for a new building, which was eventually granted but not stocked.
The specific items we have been asked for are:
Scalpels
Sutures and needles
Butterfly sutures
Any equipment for the treatment of respiratory diseases.
Glucometer (portable or not)
Hemoglobinometer (portable or not)
Ophthalmoscope (portable or not)
Port-needle - I have small needles for to sew small wounds.
Also we have recently been asked for anything to do with dentistry.
Also any basic medical equipment, such as bandages, plasters etc.
The needs for the School are varied. The children have to supply all of their own books, pens, pencils etc. and these are not provided by the government. Also because the school has been set up as a privately run school each child must pay the government for attending the school.
We are setting up a sponsorship programme where individuals or groups can sponsor a child at the school for ten UK pounds a month. This will help to pay for all that is needed for the school to teach a child. This includes the ammount for the government, rent for the school, etc. This will also mean that the school can take on more pupils as the children are sponsored.
We are desperately needing storage space here in the UK. We have been in garages, cellars, barns and other places people kindly lent to us over the past years. As J.A.R.S. is expanding we find we need more and more space.
Ian had a vision of an industrial unit where he walked through it, seeing how this unit was to be used. It had space for garaging the vehicle, offices, shop area where we could sell both Romanain crafts and second hand goods given for funds that were not suitable to take to Romania, storage and sorting space for the aid and upstairs was living accommodation, and accommodation to be used as a half way house where people could get used to being back in the West after the culture shock. If anyone knows of such a place, or a place which could be converted, then please get in touch. We believe this unit may not be in the area we are living at present, so don't hesitate to let us know if you know of such a building.
