The new bathroom in the loft space.

It has taken a while but we now have the money to start the new bathroom.

We decided to do this because the bathrooms we have are side by side at the very back of the house, there is only one toilet and our bedroom is at the front. It is a long walk and in the winter it means going through the conservatory to get there. Before we built the conservatory it meant going outside, not good with temperatures of minus 30 degrees C in the winter.

Here is a picture before I start work.

The soil pipe was put in just before we had the insulation done in 2009 so it could be hidden inside the insulation. Last summer I dug the garden up and put the soil pipe to the septic tank.

The first thing I need to do is lay the floor and then it is actually building the room itself.

I think the hardest thing will be working round the roof timbers and fitting it all in. These are not square of course and are basically tree trunks so they are certainly not straight or square.

Update May 14th 2012

Here is the basic shell of the room.

I have so far laid the floor and put up the new timbers of the basic shell of the room. You can't see the wall on the left but that has larger timbers as inside that wall will be the pipes for the water and radiator.

I have also put in the waste for the sink.

June 2014

I have not kept this up to date, I know I should have and I am writing this in June 2014, two years after I finished the room.

All I can now do is to show some pictures of the progress and the finished bathroom, it took me a couple of months so I have sorted the pictures into the two months, June and July.
