A lot has happened since the last update but not a lot of time has passed. We got some builders in to build a chimney for the new wood burning boiler and a wall. We talked about what we wanted in total and they came back with a reasonable quote to finish off the whole of the kitchen/dining area and the room for the boiler. They started on Tuesday, 4th March.

The kitchen end showing a long room.

After three days the chimney is roof height and they will finish that off when we get a nice day. The new wall is built and the window is blocked in. The walls have been squared off and the old wall knocked down. Most of the electrics have been put in ready for the switches and sockets etc.

One idea we had was to open up the wall between the passage to the bathroom and the kitchen. This was to let in more light after the dining room window had to be blocked in as the wall was to cut it in half. We also took the door off and widened the entrance. The picture below shows how we have done this.

The wall knocked through to the passage.

We are at a bit of a standstill as we have ordered the double glazed windows for this area bit it just takes time. We have been told it will take about two weeks to make and fit them, but there is an ABOUT in the sentence so we are not holding our breath !!

It won't take long to finish off once the windows are fitted so very soon I hope to be creating an update showing the finished rooms.

The pipework for the cental heating is also coming along and should soon be finished. Because I have had to go out to buy materials for the builders I have not been able to get on as I would have liked. A trapped nerve that I have had for many years has shown up again which means that I have a lot of pins and needles in my right arm and hand. I think the extra physical work has sparked it off again.

Till next time.....
